Its that time again !!
Clitheroe Food Festival is an annual showcase of the hard work and dedication of local food and drink producers, and their fabulous produce. The festival, run in partnership with Ribble Valley Borough Council and the kind sponsorship of many local businesses, has increased in popularity by several thousand visitors in the last few years and has also been listed in the Top Ten UK Food Festivals by Eventbrite.
Expect glorious, quality Lancashire produce, inspirational chefs, exciting culinary activities for all the family and great music from the area. A huge array of wonderful foods, from organic meat and dairy produce made from traditional Lancashire breeds to handmade pies and pastries and a feast of fruit and vegetables packed with authentic, home-grown flavours.
This event offers an opportunity to experience local artisan produce – such as craft ales, ciders and spirits – as well as cuisine from much further afield at authentic street food stands. In addition, historical displays are staged and the farming and countryside represented, with stalls held by RSPB and the Lancashire Wildlife Trust; explaining how the purchase of local food and drink produce benefits the countryside.
Derek Jones, from Heritage Kitchen Preserves, Rossendale, says, “Clitheroe Food Festival’s team continue to maintain their aim of showcasing the finest producers that Lancashire has to offer…the festival is the highlight of our year.”
During the festival the town centre is taken over by food and drink stalls, run by businesses handpicked from across the county, sampling and selling their wares with demonstrations and food related entertainment. The streets are abuzz with live music, street food, tastings and talks, as well as funfairs and children’s entertainment in the Castle grounds.
Stallholders include The Real Thai Pie Company, who provide an exotic twist on a Northern classic, Fat Jax Chutney, Retro Shots and the ever-popular Porcus People. Appearing for the first time this year is the North West Mad Science Show, giving action-packed interactive science demonstrations to entertain all ages, as well as wine tasting, chocolate making and demonstrations from Paul’s Kitchen.
The streets of Clitheroe are alive with summer festival fever; come and celebrate Lancashire’s culinary excellence.
